Motor vehicles brought into Moldova by foreigners holding a driver’s license issued in a country where they are officially domiciled cannot remain in Moldova’s customs jurisdiction for longer than 180 days. The measure is contained in the 2023 Fiscal and Customs Policy and will take effect on January 1.

When importing road tractors for semi-trailers with an operating term of up to 7 years, and for motor vehicles for the transport of at least 10 people, including the driver, with an operating term of up to 10 years, no customs duty will be paid.

At the same time, the exemption from customs duty for waste and scrap batteries, batteries and electric accumulators, for aircraft, helicopters, locomotives, self-propelled rail cars used in public passenger transport and their parts was cancelled.

Vehicles imported with exemption from the payment of import duties for persons with disabilities of the locomotor system must be reused in the appropriate way to adapt them to the needs of persons with locomotor disabilities.

The date of entry into force of the Customs Code has been extended - to July 1, 2023.
