The Transnistrian authorities are puppets of the Russian Federation that fulfill the orders made by Russian instigators and the year 2014 can be very risky for Moldova, considers political analyst Oazu Nantoi, expert in the Transnistrian conflict.

In the program “Fabrika” on Publika TV channel, Oazu Nantoi said that Russia, which uses the Transnistrian region as a tool, can cause much more serious provocations than the detention of employees of the Tiraspol Lyceum “Lucian Blaga” and Moldovan peacekeepers. Friends and supporters cannot be found in such cases if there is no action plan.

The Romanian-language lyceum’s principal Ion Iovcev said he fears he may be accused of illegal acts and arrested again. But the school will resist until the teachers and students are supported by the Moldovan authorities. “The school must exist and be outside politics,” he stated. He suggested formulating a statement of the Government and Parliament of Moldova, which will provide that the eight Moldovan-administered Latin-scrip schools working in Transnistria are supported by the constitutional authorities.

On February 5, Ion Iovcev, the accountant and driver of the lyceum were arrested by the Transnistrian security forces near Parcani village that is situated not far from Tiraspol. They were returning from Chisinau with the salaries of teachers. They were accused of smuggling and detained for over 5 hours. The lyceum’s stamp and the money were confiscated.
