A team of 19 athletes will represent the Republic of Moldova at the U-20 World Wrestling Championships, which will take place in Jordan during August 14-20.
Five athletes will compete in women’s wrestling, accompanied by emeritus coach Andrei Chiperi; eight athletes in freestyle wrestling, under the guidance of emeritus coaches Maxim Gâlcă and Ilia Esir; and six athletes in Greco-Roman wrestling, assisted by emeritus coach Roman Zgardan.
Attending the last workout before the competition, Sergiu Gurin, state secretary of the Ministry of Education and Research, declared that every international competition is an opportunity for Moldovan athletes to demonstrate to the whole world what dedication, passion and talent means.
The U-20 World Wrestling Championship will bring together over 400 participants.
