The Orthodox Christians who observe the feast days according to the old, Julian calendar celebrate the Feast of Saint Archangels Michael and Gabriel on November 21. A number of 183 villages and towns in Moldova celebrate the feast day of the patron saint (hram) today, IPN reports.

This is the last important feast before Advent. Saint Michael is the leader of all the angels. His name is Hebrew for “Who is like God?” and he was the battle cry of the good angels against Lucifer and his followers when they rebelled against God. Gabriel means “Man of God” or “Might of God”. He is the herald of the mysteries of God, especially the Incarnation of God and all other mysteries related to it.

The police will maintain public order in the communities where cultural-artistic events will be held on this feast day. Over 500 employees of the local subdivisions of the National Police Inspectorate and 36 teams of the National Patrolling Inspectorate will be involved in maintaining public order.

The police call on the people not to drive when under the influence of alcohol, to comply with the instructions of the patrol inspectors, to behave appropriately, to maintain order and cleanness in public places and to avoid visiting recreational places when under the influence.
