An 18-year-old Moldovan woman was prevented from smuggling 300 packs of cigarettes out of the country through the Chisinau International Airport, IPN reports.
The young woman was to board the Chisinau – Dublin flight and chose the "nothing to declare" green corridor. But the customs officers decided to check her luggage.
During the checks, the customs officials and border guards discovered the cigarettes hidden in the passenger's luggage. All the packs were seized and are to be confiscated, according to the authorities.
The young woman will be penalized for attempting to illegally transport excise goods, in accordance with the Contravention Code.
