The novel coronavirus caused 18 deaths in the healthcare system by May 29. Almost 600 healthcare workers have been tested by now, 511 of whom during the past seven days. The virus was detected in 1,564 cases in the health system, National Public Health Agency director Nicolae Furtună told a news conference.
The official said 64% of the medical personnel infected with COVID-19 were cured and most of them returned to work. 35% continue the treatment in the hospital or at home, under the supervision of the family doctor.
Nicolae Furtună also said that the infection rate so far was the highest among nurses and this indicator varied from week to week. Currently, taking into account the recent rise in the number of infections, the incidence rate is the highest among doctors – 3.9 infected doctors per 100 doctors.
