16 cases of discriminatory messages involve four electoral contestants, Promo-LEX

The 4th Report of the Observation Mission of the general local elections and snap parliamentary elections of October 20, conducted by the Promo-LEX association, reveals at least 16 cases in which the electoral competitors have generated discriminatory messages or other forms of intolerance in the public space. Eight such messages were generated by the Liberal Party, six by the "Partidul Nostru" Party and one by each the Save Bessarabia Union and the "Democrația Acasă" Party.

"11 cases involved gender biases and stereotypes, five cases involved disability biases, while violence was incited in four other cases", Pavel Postica, head of the Observation Mission, said in an IPN press conference.

The report shows that the number of electoral activities increased substantially at the end of the race, being almost seven times higher than in previous observation periods. Most activities were carried out by the PSRM (28% of total activities), the ACUM bloc (20%) and the "Partidul Nostru" Party (13%).

At least seven cases have been reported that allegedly qualify as electoral gifts, out of which, in five cases the PSRM is involved. "The number of cases of use of administrative resources is increasing, being registered at least 87 cases, of which 84 involve the organization of electoral meetings within state institutions during working hours", said Pavel Postica. According to him, in most cases the PSRM is involved (33 cases), the ACUM bloc (18 cases) and Partidul Nostru (10 cases).

The mission identified at least two situations that could be described as artificial "migration" of voters, namely in Topala, Cimișlia district, where at least seven registrations were made at permanent/temporary houses in a in a single day; and in Rădulenii Vechi, Florești, where the Promo-LEX observer reported that a candidate for the position of mayor of the settlement requested the registration of 9 persons.
