Almost one million lei was seized following searches carried out on Thursday in more than ten localities in southern Moldova in a case of illegal issuance of driving licenses. Fifteen people are under investigation, IPN reports.
The General Police Inspectorate said that licenses were issued in some cases without training, admission to exams or exam taking. Among the beneficiaries were people who were not physically present in Moldova when the driving licenses were issued.
After receiving their money (€500-1,000 depending on the driving license category or emergency), the directors and employees of the driving schools concerned illegally entered into the information systems the data of future holders of illegal driving licenses, who subsequently received the package of documents for obtaining them without having attended theoretical or practical lessons.
In over ten localities in three southern districts, searches were conducted at driving schools, subdivisions of the Public Services Agency and homes of suspects. About 1,000,000 lei, two guns and over 300 illegally held cartridges, over 10 mobile phones, draft documents and dozens of graduation certificates and forged documents regarding the training of driving school students were seized.
