In the first 10 days of the year, a total of about 137,000 MWh of electricity was purchased at a weighted average price of 110.83 euros/MWh. According to calculations, this amounts to 15 million euros for 10 days. The data was published by "Energocom," a company designated by the Government to purchase electricity during the state of emergency, IPN reports.

According to data published by "Energocom", 31.86% of the energy was purchased through bilateral contracts, 25.65% from the OPCOM trading platform in Romania, and 30.33% from combined heat and power plants (CHPs).

The Commission for Exceptional Situations decided on December 27, 2024, that "Energocom" would purchase renewable energy from the free market based on bilateral contracts, "at a price ceiling that will not exceed the lowest price of electricity that the public service provider has under bilateral contracts with energy producers".

"Energocom" assures that it is in constant dialogue with its foreign partners to identify the best offers.

Since January 1, the right bank of the Dniester no longer receives electricity from the Cuciurgan Power Plant, after natural gas deliveries from the Russian company "Gazprom" were halted in the Transnistrian region.
