139 more persons get COVID-19, five succumb to disease

A number of 139 new cases of COVID-19 were confirmed in Moldova on June 15 after doing 545 tests. Eight of those confirmed with the infection are healthcare workers, the head of the National Public Health Agency Nicolae Furtună was quoted by IPN as saying in a press briefing.

According to Nicolae Furtună, of the total 11,879 infections recorded in Moldova so far, 4,674 are active cases. 417 infected persons are in a serious state and 24 of them were put on a ventilator. 171 persons got cured and were discharged from the hospital on June 15. Five persons died today and the death toll thus rose to 411.

The official also said that the hospitality industry and the sports halls resumed work today and the owners assume overall responsibility for the strict implementation of the anti-epidemic measures recommended by the National Extraordinary Commission for Public Health, including maintaining of social distancing, ventilation and disinfection of places. “The distance between the visitors there should be of 1.5-2 m.”

Nicolae Furtună noted that the wearing of masks is mandatory in open public places only where there is crowdedness and where it is not possible to keep social distancing.
