A boy aged 13 drowned in ‘Frumoasa’ lake of Cahul town in the afternoon of May 25. He went to swim together with his parents, but distanced himself too much from the bank, without permission.
According to the Civil Protection and Emergencies Service, though several witnesses saw that the boy was agitated, they thought he was playing and didn’t intervene. When it became evident that the boy was in real danger, nothing could be done to save him. The rescuers were called shortly afterward.
Two teams of frogmen came to the scene. They found the body in about 30 minutes.
The rescuers warn the parents to supervise the children permanently and not to allow them to go swimming alone so as to avoid emergencies, including with lethal ending.
