Nicolae Furtună, director of the National Public Health Agency, said that the figure of 29 healthcare workers who got infected at the workplace in March derived from the epidemiological questionnaires conducted to assess the risks. A working group consisting of specialists of the Agency and directors of public health facilities compiled this list of 29 persons after establishing the cause-effect connection. (These persons will get a lump sum of 16,000 lei).
According to Nicolae Furtună, the medical personnel in Bălceana contracted the virus while providing medical assistance to the infected person without knowing that this was infected, while the staff at the Carahasani Health Center caught the virus in the community. The same happened at the Psychiatry Hospital. “None of these persons is on the March list of those who became infected at the workplace,” he stated.
