The Republic of Moldova shares the cultural and spiritual values of the francophone area. In 2020-2021, French has been studied by 117,788 students at the general education level, the Ministry of Education, Culture and Research stated on the occasion of the International Francophonie Day that is celebrated on March 20, IPN reports.
In support of the quality of the education process for forming competence in French, the education system benefits from the support of the strategic partners in promoting Francophonie, such as the Embassy of France, the French Alliance in Moldova and the Francophone University Agency. “A number of universities and technical vocation education institutions in the country implement formation programs in the francophone sector, offering students real opportunities of professional growth. The cultural and scientific activities and academic mobility offer the francophone young people from the country new horizons for distinguishing themselves and employment opportunities,” noted the Ministry.
It reminded that the Linguistic Pact between the Republic of Moldova and the International Organization of the Francophonie for 2018 – 2022, was signed on October 18, 2018. Through this, the Republic of Moldova reiterated its commitment of Moldovan-Francophone cooperation. “Francophonie is a value that unites us around the idea of solidarity, fraternity and common European values and is a form of expression of the intercultural dialogue and dialogue for promoting the friendly relations between countries,” says the Ministry’s message.
President Maia Sandu also disseminated a congratulatory message on the occasion of the International Francophonie Day. The official said the Republic of Moldova has been a member of the International Organization of the Francophonie for 25 years. “Hundreds of thousands of young people and adults in our country learn, know and speak French and through the French language are part of the francophone cultural area. On this occasion, I transmit a good thought to all the teachers of French,” runs the message. Maia Sandu reminds that in February, she had a productive discussion with the IOF Secretary General Louise Mushikiwabo. “I was glad to see the IOF’s readiness to examine the possibility of supporting the justice sector reform and of teaching French to the carabineer troops. I hope a lot that these programs will bring us much closer and Moldova will strengthen its participation in the francophone area.”
The Embassy of France in Moldova announced that an exploratory mission of the group “French Development Agency” will visit the Republic of Moldova on March 21-24 to examine the opportunities of supporting the economic and social development of the country and possibilities of supporting reforms in Moldova.
