Police officers and anti-corruption prosecutors carried out extensive operations over the course of three days throughout the country investigating cases of electoral corruption and illegal campaign financing, the General Police Inspectorate announced.

A total of 115 raids were conducted, targeting local campaign leaders and activists involved in a network suspected of money laundering and other illegal activities. Three district campaign managers were detained for 72 hours.

As a result of the raids, large sums of money, bank cards, mobile phones, and campaign materials were seized.

The investigation revealed that members of the primary territorial organizations of some political parties were remunerated monthly from undeclared money to buy votes at the October 20 election. Also, local leaders received money as a reward for organizing rallies and other protest actions, as demonstrated by wiretap evidence.

More than 130,000 people are involved in schemes to influence the elections, including through financial rewards and electoral promises, according to a report issued by the IGP.
