10 more companies join Moldovan Network of Global Impact

10 new companies from Moldova have received certificates of members of the Local Network of the Global Impact, on December 12, at the annual meeting of the Network, Info- Prim Neo reports. They are: the SME Development Organization, Codru hotel, SRL Linella, World Wide Aid& Cooperation Moldova, Prime Capital SRL, the Economic Studies Academy, Grupul Proiectelor Inteligente SRL, the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Moldova, ExpetProPartener SRL and the first media company -- Business Class review. Now the Moldovan Network joins 47 entities, starting from 14 when it was launched in November 2006. The Global Impact is a UN initiative pursuing to promote corporate social responsibility. The idea got the support of some 6,500 organizations from 130 countries, which set up local networks. Those 10 principles promoted by the Global Impact envisage 4 domains: human rights, labor standards, environment protection and curbing corruption. The companies joining the Impact commit to enforce these principles in their work. Rodica Verbeniuc, the president of the Coordinators of the Network says, although the Local Network has worked for two years only, the number of companies realizing the principles of social responsibility is hiking. She has mentioned the main activities unfolded in 2008: planting trees, supporting the youth business plans contest, starting the dialogue with the Parliament and Government to promote the principles of corporate social responsibility, joining the national anti-corruption campaign. The members signed the Impact's conduct code on countering the gravest forms of child labor, occasioned by the 60th anniversary of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights.
