The Liberal Democratic Party (PLDM) will mount a rally in the Great National Assembly Square in Chisinau on May 1, on the occasion of Labor Day. Three more parties and two organizations wanted to stage events in the central square of Chisinau the same day. But, under the law, the right to assemble in a particular place is given to the first who filed an application to the City Hall, Vasile Pascari, senior specialist at the Social-Humanitarian and Interethnic Relations Division, has told Info-Prim Neo. The PLDM intends to bring together about 5,000 people in the Great National Assembly Square on May 1. According to Vasile Pascari, the Communist Party in its application said that 40,000 people were to come together at the Civic Congress in the central square of Chisinau the same day to protest against the government policy. “We suggested other places for assembly, but the representatives of the PCRM refused, saying they will appeal the mayor’s decision to court,” said Vasile Pascari. The Social-Democratic Party and the Socialists People’s Party of Moldova as well as the Confederation of Trade Unions and the public association “Salvgardare” also panned to organize events in the central square on May 1. Vasile Pascari stated that the PLDM also wanted to stage a meeting in central Chisinau on May 9, but the place had been reserved by Union Media Grup.
