Over 703,000 households applied for energy compensation in November, with a total of 1.4 million citizens. Those who failed to register by Thursday will not receive compensation for November's consumption, but already for the following months, IPN reports.
Labor and Social Protection Minister Alexei Buzu told a press conference that most applicants - 310 thousand or 44% - indicated solid fuel as the main source of heating. Another 228 thousand citizens or 32% indicated natural gas as the main source of heating, while 135 thousand applicants mentioned district heating. About 28 thousand people, or 4% of all applications, indicated electricity as their main heating source.
This year the authorities decided to offer the compensation in monetary form, not in the bill. They will vary between 300 and 800 lei. All households heated with natural gas, heat, electricity or solid fuel (wood, coal, pellets, briquettes) can apply for compensation. Payments will reach the eligible applicant's bank card or post office.
If the application is submitted after the 28 of the month, the compensation is paid from the following month. During the cold season, applications may be submitted at any time, but compensation will not be granted retroactively.
