The Chisinau Court of Appeals (CA) adjourned on Monday, January 29, the examination of the case filed against the Chisinau Municipal Council by Vasile State, ex-director of the radio station “Antena C”, for the reason that the defendant did not designate a representative in the court. Judge Mihai Ciugureanu announced Monday that no representative came on behalf of CMC. He said that these delays are due to the reorganisations within the City Hall. The examination of the case has been adjourned until February 5, 11.00 AM. Vasile State sued the decision of December 14 of the CMC concerning his dismissal, which he branded illegal, with many procedures breached. State seeks to annul this decision, to re-establish him in the office, and have his salary paid for the period of forced absence from work. The quoted source told the press after the sitting of the court that he feels confident of winning, because even for common people it is clear that CMC’s decision did not have a legal support. Among the violations, State named his dismissal at the proposal of a councillor and not of the general mayor or one third of councillors, as the legislation requires. Also, State claims that he was dismissed based on an article from the Labour Code, because of an alleged serious offence, though no argument was put forward related to this violation. Vasile State, together with director of “Euro TV Chisinau” channel Arcadie Gherasim, was dismissed at the same sitting of the Municipal Council when there was decided to auction off the two institutions. The two directors have been dismissed with the votes of the communist councillors and Christian democrats at the proposal of the leader of PPCD faction in the Council, Alexandru Corduneanu. The decision on selling the institutions is also sued by the employees of the two stations.
