Mayor requests waste collectors to empty bins even in households without pickup contracts
The “Autosalubritate” Waste Management is obliged by the Chisinau interim mayor to collect and transport waste even without having contracts concluded with the owners of the dwelling blocks. The order was given by Veaceslav Iordan during the City Hall sitting on Monday, March 19. In turn, the Waste Management representatives fear that it could determine householders to renounce the contracts concluded with “Autosalubritate”, Info-Prim Neo reports.
Iordan insisted “Autosalubritate” must evacuate waste from private households not once a week, as usual, but twice. “Knock at the door and do not ask about contracts, just take the waste!”, Iordan requested.
The Management’s head, Tudor Maniv, told Info-Prim Neo that earlier, such experiments proved that the company could not even recover those 30% of its incurred expenses calculated after concluding contracts with about 50% of the homeowners.
As regards the order to increase the frequency of waste collection, Maniv says that this thing is also difficult, because each week day is dedicated to waste transportation from a certain district of the capital.
Maniv says the only solution is to have contracts open with all the homeowners.
According to Maniv, there are 15,000 private houses in Chisinau. The waste collection costs 5.8 lei/one family member. The calculations show that on average, “Autosalubritate” Management must receive about MDL 400,000. At present, the enterprise’s cash receipts after transporting waste from private households make up only MDL 120,000.
