Moldova’s Maxim Dubarenko has won a new tennis tournament in Romania. The 20-year-old athlete won the ITF competition in Bucharest, whose prize money totaled US$10,000, IPN reports.
In the final, Dubarenko beat Romania’s Dragos Dima in three sets, 5-7, 6-3 and 6-1. The Moldovan athlete was the second favorite of the competition. In the semifinal, he defeated Romanian athlete Andrei Cociasu, while in quarterfinals – Croatia’s Viktor Galovic.
A week earlier, Dubarenko won the ITF tournament in Galati, in the doubles. He played alongside Moldova’s Andrei Ciumac. They are both members of the national team of Moldova.
