President Maia Sandu convened a meeting of the Supreme Security Council for the first half of November 24. There will be discussed the challenges related to the provision of Moldova with energy resources, IPN reports.
The Moldovan electricity supply system failed at 2:23pm on November 23, according to Premier Energy. Later, Deputy Prime Minister Andrei Spînu discussed the extensive blackouts in Moldova and Ukraine with European Commissioner for Energy Kadri Simson, Minister of Energy of Romania Virgil Popescu and Minister of Energy of Ukraine German Galushchenko. “We condemn Russia’s attacks on Ukrainian energy infrastructure. Russia must stop this unjust and illegal war,” says a message posted by the official on Facebook.
The power outages across Moldova followed shelling of Ukrainian energy system targets by Russia.
According to the presidential administration, President Sandu on Thursday morning will also chair the meeting of the National Commission for European Integration, which will center on the progress made in implementing the action plan for fulfilling the conditions associated with the EU candidate status and the European integration priorities for the immediate period.
