IOM’s campaign on disability inclusion reached Comrat

The fourth stage of “Bridging Pathways: Persons with Disabilities and Youth in Moldova”, promoted and organized by the International Organization for Migration (IOM) in the Republic of Moldova, came to Comrat, in the Gagauzia region, IPN reports.

At the Comrat State University, an interactive information session took place in the presence of students, representatives of associations of persons with disabilities, local authorities, the UN Resident Coordinator in the Republic of Moldova, Yesim Oric, and the IOM team led by the Chief of Mission, Ester Ruiz de Azua.

"True inclusion means removing barriers, amplifying voices, and ensuring that persons with disabilities have equal opportunities to thrive. Everything we do at the UN is together with persons with disabilities and for them," commented the UN Resident Coordinator, Yesim Oric.

The events included awareness-raising sessions to inform and brainstorm about the solutions to the isolation and marginalization of persons with disabilities, especially in the most remote areas of the country, as well as round tables and activities to promote their rights and inclusion, with a specific focus on young Moldovans and migrants as change-makers of human rights-based social development.

The “Bridging Pathways: Persons with Disabilities and Youth in Moldova” campaign was made possible thanks to the generous financial support of the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation.
