In several days temperatures will drop to minus 12 C°
Meteorologists warn that starting Friday night, light snow will be registered in Moldova. The temperatures will continue to go down at least until January 31. The coldest weather is expected on Tuesday, January 30, when -12 C° will be registered, Info-Prim Neo reports.
The fall-outs will start this night and will have an isolated character, either sleet or snowfall. The temperatures will go down up to -3 C° tonight. The same temperatures are expected on Saturday, and on Sunday the low temperature will be -6 C°, and the high -2 C°. On Monday, the weather will be pretty much the same, but on Tuesday night it will go down to -12 C°. Starting Wednesday, the weather will slightly warm up (-10 C° at night, and -2 C° in the daytime). Meteorologists say that snowfalls will be registered during all these days.
Deputy-chairman of the General Department for Transport Alexei Varlan told Info-Prim Neo that the department is ready to handle the situation. About 27-30 snowploughs are ready to clean the roads. In case of a more serious situation, over 65 transport units will be involved in the cleaning actions.
According to the cited source, 14 thousand cubic metres of non-skid material was prepared at the beginning of the cold season. After the snowfalls from the beginning of the month, there are left 13 thousand cubic metres. At the same time a larger quantity of salt is being prepared.
Chisinau Road Security Service Inspector Ion Roscovanu recommends all the drivers to abstain from driving their cars in case it will snow. Otherwise they should equip their cars with winter tires, to have reserves of non-skid material, a shovel and to buy more fuel in order to avoid the unpleasant moments in the case they will stop the car for a longer period. At the same time, the cited source recommends the drivers to drive carefully and to avoid speeding and parking in prohibited places in order to allow the snow-removing vehicles to work properly.
