Govt. raises spending on road repair and maintenance

Spending on road repair and maintenance has been raised by 29.5 million lei through road fund adjustments, Info-Prim Neo reports. For this year the total spending planned on road management was 231.35 million lei, including 129.95 million lei on maintenance, 59.4 million lei on repair, 12 million lei on design works, and 30 million lei on equipment purchases. By the end of May expenses constituted 92.81 million lei, as road works worth 20 million lei are now in progress. Though expenses on road maintenance have amounted to 72.42 percent of the planned sum, works are still needed to properly ensure road safety on all public roads, especially on local roads, said Deputy Construction Minister Vasile Ursu in arguing for the raise. Th lifetime of over 80 percent of the total roads in Moldova is expired.
