First European Interactive Centre in Moldova to be opened in Cahul

The first European Interactive Centre “Pro-Europa” will be opened at the State University in Cahul on February 20. The Centre is part of a joint programme of Eurasia Foundation, Representation in Moldova, and of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and European Integration. The Centre will be managed by two nongovernmental organisations from Cahul - Dialog and Contact-Cahul. Its objectives are to inform public on the subjects related to European integration, as travel, work and studies in the EU countries, dissemination of information about the EU institutions and policies. As a platform for discussions with the public (young people, women, farmers and teachers), local public authorities, businessmen, the Centre aims at stimulating the participation of citizens in the process of making decisions at local level. After opening the Centre, a regional conference entitled “Cooperation between local public authorities and civil society in the process of European integration” will be held in the conference hall of the raion council in Cahul. The second European Interactive Centre “Pro-Europa” will be opened in Balti in March. The Centre’s opening and activities become possible thanks to the financial support provided by the Swedish for International Development Cooperation Agency (SIDA), Royal Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Norway and US Agency for International Development (USAID).
