Sfântul Gheorghe Suruceni will play the third consecutive final of Moldova’s Football Cup. The team trained by Sergey Cebotari plays Sheriff Tiraspol at the Zimbru Stadium in Chisinau on May 30, IPN reports.
Sheriff can win the cup after winning the championship. “We want a lot one more trophy. We are seriously training for this match,” Sheriff coach Yuri Vernydub told a news conference.
Sfîntul Gheorghe halfback Alexandru Suvorov won Moldova’s Cup as part of Sheriff for two times. “I know Sheriff think only about victory. For them, any trophy is always important,” said Alexandru Suvorov.
The final will be played in the presence of fans, but attendance will be reduced to 50% of the capacity of the Zimbru Stadium. In the 2019 final of Moldova’s Football Cup, Sfîntul Gheorghe were beaten by Sheriff 0-1 in overtime. Last year, Sfîntul Gheorghe lost to FC Petrocub as a result of the penalty shootout.
