A former head of the Bank Operations Section of the commercial bank Moldindconbank, who was charged with money laundering and was wanted, was arrested at the Chisinau International Airport.

Contacted by IPN, acting head of the Anticorruption Prosecutor’s Office Sergiu Gavajuc said that last week they received an application by which the wanted person informed that she intended to surrender. She was thus detained and taken to the investigation body, where she was familiarized with the indictment. The woman was questioned and was then set free. Measures are being taken to complete the investigation into this case.

According to the former chief of the Anticorruption Prosecutor’s Office Viorel Morari, the former employee of the bank decided to return to the country after she was promised that nothing will happen to her. Sergiu Gavajuc said he does not know about this and cannot know where Morari obtained such information from. According to him, after the new prosecutor general took over, he said that those who are wanted, if they want to cooperate with the investigation bodies, should present themselves and the preventive measures against them will be annulled.
