The Chisinau Municipal Council decided at Tuesday’s sitting to set up the “Eugen Doga” Hall. The music hall will be built on Mihai Eminescu Street, 53, Info-Prim Neo reports. According to the chief architect of Chisinau municipality, Nicon Zaporojan, the Architecture, Urbanism and Land Relations Division will choose, while designing the project, “the most economical and beneficial variant from the town-planning point of view”. At the Parliament’s proposal and by Government decision, the 2007 year has been designated as “The Year of Eugen Doga”. Earlier, by a CMC decision, academician Eugen Doga was awarded the title of Honorary Citizen of Chisinau. Eugen Doga was born on March 1, 1937, in Mocra village, Rabnita. He made his debut in the composition art in 1963, with a string quartet, later becoming the author of many priceless musical compositions, film and theater soundtracks. Eugen Doga wrote music for over 200 films, spectacles, ballets. He is the author of many cantatas, composed a symphony, instrumental music, romances, a symphonic poem, many songs for children etc.
