Compilation-Play uniting theatre, TV and cinema art is staged at the National Theatre
A compilation-play combining the theatre, TV and cinema arts, based on the play “Orpheus Descending” by the American poet and playwright, winner of the Pulitzer award, Tennessee Williams, is being staged at the National Theatre “Mihai Eminescu” in Chisinau. The script and the stage management belong to Valeriu Jereghi, the first film director from Moldova to stage a play, Info-Prim Neo reports.
According to the director, this play that is entitled “In Snake Skin” will involve all the troupe of the National Theatre. Angela Ciobanu, Valentin Zorila, Mihaela Strambeanu, Dina Cocea, Ion Mocanu, Nicolae Darie, Angela Caraus, Leo Rudenco, Doriana Zubcu are the actors that will be involved in the play, the rest of them will participate in the scenes filmed elsewhere than the action place.
The idea to combine the cinematography and theatre art belongs to Valeriu Jereghi, who started to stage the play “In Snake Skin” at the Little Theatre from Bucharest and “Pushkin” Theatre from Moscow 10 years ago, but he was forced to give up this project in favour of the cinematography. Now, the director says, the idea will be implemented, even if he will have to give up several cinema projects and refuse the invitations to the festivals where his movie “Mirage of Love” will be screened. Valeriu Jereghi says that both the troupe of the theatre and the administration, Sandu Cozub and Ion Grosu, create all the necessary conditions to make the project successful.
The scenery of the play belongs to Iurie Matei, the costumes are created by Stela Furdui, and Mircea Chistruga handles the music.
The play is scheduled for the first half of April.
