Collections to Chisinau budget again lower than projected
The May collections to the municipal budget will again not reach the levels projected by the Chisinau Municipal Council (CMC) when approving the 2009 budget. Procopie Duca, the head of the Chisinau Main Tax Inspectorate said Monday at the meeting of the City Hall that a sum of 27.4 million lei was collected into the budget during the first days of May, practically the same amount as at the beginning of the year.
“The collections on the first three-four days of April were 28 million lei. A sum of 141 million lei is projected to be collected in May, but the collections usually total 110-120 million lei. This month, we will again not be able to fulfill the plan,” Duca said, quoted by Info-Prim Neo.
According to the head of the General Finance Division Maria Caraus, the money gathered in the first week of May was used to pay salaries to the employees of all the institutions financed from the local budget. 3.3 million lei was transferred to SA Apa-Canal Chisinau for the April consumption.
Last week, deputy mayor Mihai Furtuna said he would demand that the CMC modify the 2009 budget, accusing the councilors of approving a populist budget that cannot be fulfilled as the revenues and spending were raised by over 400 million lei compared with the initial budget submitted by the local executive for approval.
