The Chisinau City Hall was a bargaining chip for the Party of Socialists for their vote together with the Democratic Party for the introduction of the mixed-member electoral system. The issue was developed in the talk show “Moldova live” on the public TV channel Moldova 1, IPN reports.
Valeriu Munteanu, deputy chairman of the Liberal Party said that even if the Chisinau City Hall was promised instead of the vote for the mixed electoral system to the Socialists, the PDM actually pretends to be offering it to the PSRM.
Mihai Popsoi, deputy head of the Party “Action and Solidarity”, said Dorin Chirtoaca is not and was not a good mayor. “We wanted him to be a better mayor. Nevertheless, we wonder why the referendum will be held namely now and why the proposal submitted by civic activists in this regard wasn’t accepted. Why should we now spend almost 10 million lei when many streets in Chisinau do not have illumination and many kindergartens do not have educator assistants and cooks?” he asked.
Socialist MP Vlad Batrancea said that over 100,000 inhabitants of Chisinau signed in favor of this referendum and this is their will and the referendum should thus take place.
Alexandru Slusari, deputy head of the Party “Platform Dignity and Truth”, speaking about the current government of Moldova, said this cannot be improved and should thus leave. “We have no trust in this government. It cannot be improved and it is a mafiotic government,” he stated.
