Chisinau looks for foreign financial assistance, including the Romanian one, in order to design and restore the wastewater treatment facility. This statement was made by interim mayor Veaceslav Iordan, on Tuesday, March 13, during a meeting with a Romanian delegation from the Bucharest City Hall, headed by deputy mayor Razvan Murgeanu. Iordan has also asked the Romanian delegation for support in attracting European funds. Razvan Murgeanu has confirmed the availability of Bucharest in helping Chisinau methodologically in all the needed sectors, at the same time pointing out the remarkable evolution of Chisinau within the town administration, and green spaces in particular. The representative also pointed out (in reference to sanitation, public illumination and road management) that the quality and the price of the services are the utter barometer of efficiency. The Chisinau Municipal Council (CMC) will discuss upon the building of the wastewater facility in its session on March 15. The station’s feasibility study will be proposed for approval within the same session. The head of the Capital constructions municipal department Tudor Gnaciuc told Info-Prim Neo that after the CMC will approve the feasibility study, the constructors will be able to work out the project and start building the stations. An international tender will be announced for working out the tender book, and later – another international investment tender for selecting the contractor. The possibility of building a new wastewater facility for Chisinau Municipality has been excluded earlier, after local specialists and decision makers estimated that an amount of investments of EUR 300 mln can hardly be attracted. EUR 150 mln are needed for the complete reconstruction of the station. For the first stage, the priority is to dispose of the bad smell which disturbs Chisinau residents, which will require about EUR 56 mln. The reconstruction of the rest of the station is planned for the following 4 years, and meanwhile investments will be attracted.
