Moldovan boxer Alexandru Paraskiv won three victories in the qualifying tournament held in Italy, in the 63.5 kg weight category, IPN reports.
He defeated China’s Wang Xiangyang, Germany’s Assan Hansen, and Spain’s Flores Luque Salvador. Then, in the quarterfinals, Alexander lost to Al-Kasbeh Obada of Jordan.
The next qualifying tournament will take place in May in Thailand and the first five finishers will go into the Paris 2024 Olympic Games.
Vasile Cebotari, Andrei Zaplitnyi, Andrei Kiriakov and Iulia Coroli also contended in the qualification tournament in Italy.
