Crops on at least 3,600 hectares were damaged in the district of Falesti alone by the hail storm that battered Moldova on Tuesday, May 12, as damages are still assessed. Also in Falesti, the hail damaged the roofing on 49 homes. Orchards were also badly hit in this district. In Chisinau the storm downed some 20 trees and 3 cars were crushed under them, the Emergencies Department reported. Other areas particularly affected were the districts of Hancesti, Edinet, Donduseni, Sangerei and the Gagauz autonomy.
