Former prosecutor general Valeriu Zubco, after the February 4 hearings held by the parliamentary commission of inquiry into the hunting incident in the Domneasca Forest, told the journalists that he didn’t consider it necessary to inform the senior officials about what happened because the Prosecutor General’s Office (PGO) is an autonomous institution that is controlled by no state authority, Info-Prim Neo reports. Valeriu Zubco admitted yet that political pressure is exerted on the institution. “During the three years I had held this post, political pressure was permanently exerted. There was a choice in front of me – between the position and the family, my wife and children,” said Zubco, explaining his decision to quit as prosecutor general. On February 4, the commission of inquiry also questioned Minister of the Interior Dorin Recean, the head of the Ministry’s Operative Services Division, and several hunters and foresters who took part in the hunting in the Domneasca Forest on December 23.
