A man aged 21 from Straseni district was struck mortally by a vehicle in a crosswalk at the intersection of the streets Mihai Viteazu and Columna in Chisinau last night.

Contacted by IPN, spokesman for the Chisinau Police Division Adrian Jovmir said the young man was crossing legally the street when he was hit by a GAZ truck driven by a 52-year-old man from Chisinau.

The driver faces three to seven years in jail and will be banned from driving units of transport for a period of up to four years.
