The lawyer of the former democratic leader, Vlad Plahotniuc, repeatedly accuses the authorities in Chisinau of delaying his client’s extradition to the Republic of Moldova. The Ministry of Justice in Chisinau would use various legal tricks, claims the lawyer Lucian Rogac.<\/p>\n\n

“Usually, at the international level, the state requesting extradition sends a single request, with all the files gathered together. This means a single procedure, a single court session, and a single final decision. But in the case of Vladimir Plahotniuc, the General Prosecutor’s Office and the Ministry of Justice in Chisinau have divided the files into several portions. Thus, for each separate file, a new request is made, a new session is held, and a new decision is made,” states the lawyer in a video post.<\/p>\n\n

The Ministry of Justice has not yet responded in this context and, when asked by IPN, promised to issue a statement at the appropriate time.<\/p>\n\n

In the meantime, the acting Attorney General, Alexandr Machidon, clarified that the extradition request for Vlad Plahotniuc to Moldova is currently under review by the Greek authorities. He mentioned that he is to verify whether Chisinau has received a notification in this regard.<\/p>\n\n

The Court of Appeal in Athens approved on August 13 the extradition of Vlad Plahotniuc to the Republic of Moldova. According to Greek law, the final verdict belongs to the Ministry of Justice of Greece.<\/p>\n\n
