The new acting Charg\u00e9 d’Affaires of the United States of America, Kevin Covert, has begun his mandate in the Republic of Moldova. The official had a meeting with Deputy Prime Minister Mihai Popsoi, Minister of Foreign Affairs, during which he reiterated the firm support of the USA for Moldova’s European path and the continuation of democratic reforms, reports IPN.<\/p>\n\n

The Deputy Prime Minister Mihai Popsoi welcomed the American official and expressed Moldova’s openness to strengthening bilateral relations with the United States. The Minister expressed gratitude for the constant support offered by the US and highlighted the importance of projects implemented with the support of American partners, which bring direct benefits to the citizens of the Republic of Moldova.<\/p>\n\n

According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the discussions focused on the ongoing development of the durable Moldovan-American partnership, deepening sectoral cooperation, and leveraging the potential for bilateral collaboration.<\/p>\n\n

Kevin Covert previously held this position in Moldova in December 2024. He is a high-ranking career diplomat, currently detached from his role as Director for Eastern European Affairs at the U.S. State Department, where he is responsible for the Republic of Moldova, Ukraine, and Belarus.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
