{"id":720883,"date":"2014-02-10T17:32:00","date_gmt":"2014-02-10T15:32:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/ipn.md\/call-to-prosecutor-general\/"},"modified":"2026-07-21T21:58:41","modified_gmt":"2026-07-21T18:58:41","slug":"call-to-prosecutor-general","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/ipn.md\/en\/call-to-prosecutor-general\/","title":{"rendered":"Call to prosecutor general"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>\n\tA group of representatives of civil society and residents of Chisinau municipality called on Prosecutor General Corneliu Gurin to take under control the criminal cases started against activist Iurie Draniceru, who is accused of hooliganism and gun bearing. \u00a0In a news <a href=\"http:\/\/www.ustream.tv\/recorded\/43656769\" target=\"_blank\"><u>conference at IPN<\/u><\/a>, people who support Draniceru said that seven criminal cases were opened against him in only half a year, all by order, IPN reports.<\/p>\n<p>\tLeader of the public organization \u201cMy dear town\u201d Vitalie Vozian said that on January 30, Iurie Draniceru was put under arrest for 30 days for hooliganism, by a decision of the Rascani Court. The activist\u2019s lawyer appealed the decision to the Chisinau Appeals Court. But on February 10, the Court upheld the decision of the first court. Most of the seven criminal cases were started by prosecutor Nicu Sendrea and this is dubious, showing that he acts by order.<\/p>\n<p>\tCostumer rights protection expert Tatiana Gogu said that Iurie Draniceru is one of the most active citizens of the municipality. He takes an active part in the protests staged against the wrongdoings of the authorities. \u201cIurie is like a bone in the necks of those who enrich themselves by stealing public property. These cases are fabricated with the aim of shutting him up,\u201d she stated.<\/p>\n<p>\tThe participants in the conference also said that Iurie Draniceru helped a lot of people when their rights were violated. Jurist Larisa Turcan said that Iurie Draniceru assisted an elderly man to get back his house after he was evicted for forged debts.
