\n\tThe prosecutor of Taraclia district was suspended from post and is investigated. The acting prosecutor general Eduard Harunjen ordered starting a criminal case against him over abuse of power, IPN reports.<\/p>\n
\tIn a press release of the Prosecutor General\u2019s Office (PGO), it is said that the criminal case was started after the director of a company complained about the abusive actions taken by the district prosecutor with the aim of illegally obtaining advantages and property.<\/p>\n
\tAccording to prosecutors, abusing his power, the prosecutor of Taraclia district obliged the director of a state-run company to build a portion of road of about 400 meters in Cazaclia village, at the company\u2019s expense, so as to ensure access to the local central street for a relative of his. At the request of the district prosecutor, the company\u2019s head was obliged to supply 10 tonnes of granite gravel, building materials and other things for being used for personal purposes.<\/p>\n
\tIt is estimated that the prosecutor caused damage of 75,000 lei to the company. Afterward, at the request of the company\u2019s director to pay for the works and the used materials, the district Prosecutor\u2019s Office opened an investigation and started a criminal case against the latter.<\/p>\n
\tThe prosecutor faces a fine of 50,000 to 100,000 or up to six years in jail.<\/p>\n
\tThe PGO calls on anyone with any information about acts of corruption or abuses committed by employees of law enforcement agencies to call the \u2018trust line\u2019 of the Anticorruption Prosecutor\u2019s Office on 022- 257- 407, with confidentiality being ensured.<\/p>\n
