Currently, 16.5 thousand people are living with HIV. Of these, 880 are new cases confirmed last year. The majority of cases are registered in people aged 40+, which means late detection of this infection, despite the fact that testing services are accessible, says the National Agency for Public Health, cited by IPN.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">According to the ANSP, treatment is available and provided according to national protocols, based on the latest WHO and UNAIDS recommendations. Almost nine thousand people are currently receiving antiretroviral treatment. However, fear and stigma remain major barriers, preventing many people from getting tested or taking the necessary treatment.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">&#8220;Thanks to improved access to treatment and care services, the number of AIDS deaths has dropped significantly &#8211; from 338 deaths in 2020 to 241 in 2024&#8221;, a press release said.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The third Sunday in May every year is World AIDS Day, a time for all to remember the many lives lost to HIV\/AIDS and an opportunity to mobilize communities for solidarity, empathy and tolerance towards people living with HIV.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">On this occasion, a community flashmob will be organized on Sunday with the theme: &#8220;In their slippers&#8221;. The event will take place from 10:30 in the Rose Valley Park to motivate people to get tested for HIV and to promote empathy towards people living with HIV.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Moldova continues to face challenges related to HIV and AIDS.
