According to the Association\u2019s chairman Piotr Gu\u021bul, despite the commitments to reform the justice sector and fight corruption that were undertaken by the country\u2019s administration, the consumers are not protected by the justice system and the state.<\/p>\n<p>In a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=Vo1XRHn8Klo\" target=\"_blank\"><span lang=\"RO\" style=\"background:white\"><span style=\"text-underline:none\">news conference<\/span><\/span><\/a> hosted by IPN, Piotr Gu\u021bul said the judicial system does not work.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI urge all the consumers to come together for a protest and to demand that the President, Parliament and the Government should resign. We are witnessing large-scale thefts. 20 billion lei is not collected into the state budget each year. These are official data. The Prosecutor\u2019s Office refuses to start criminal cases. The police do not do their job,\u201d stated Piotr Gu\u021bul.<\/p>\n<p>The Association\u2019s chairman noted that he received a lot of complaints from consumers, who say that the state institutions ignore people\u2019s rights. The Public Association \u201cConsumer Protection\u201d filed a number of lawsuits against the heat supplier Termoelectrica and the National Agency for Energy Regulation over the violation of consumers\u2019 rights, but didn\u2019t win the cases and will therefore go to the Supreme Court of Justice and the European Court of Human Rights.<\/p>\n<p><i>Note: The conference forms part of the series of conferences held as part of IPN News Agency\u2019s project \u201cSupport for the Justice Reform through multimedia coverage of cases of alleged injustice\u201d.
