The Republic of Moldova and the Portuguese Republic celebrate the 30th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations. On this occasion, the ministers of foreign affairs of the two countries reiterated the importance of a constructive dialogue and friendly relations, IPN reports.<\/p>\n
A joint statement signed by Deputy Prime Minister Nicu Popescu, Minister of Foreign Affairs and European Integration, and his Portuguese counterpart Jo\u00e3o Gomes Cravinho says that the two countries will continue to cooperate in building a peaceful and prosperous Europe.<\/p>\n
\u201cIn light of the provocations witnessed by the Republic of Moldova, in the context of the Russian Federation\u2019s war of aggression against Ukraine, we ask for cooperation and stronger support for Moldova given that it is building resilience in the face of the multiple threats and is covering an irreversible path of accession to the EU,\u201d runs the statement.<\/p>\n
The two officials noted that the basic principles by which Moldova and Portugal should abide are democracy, the human rights and the rule of law, which serve as a foundation stone for the Moldovan-Portuguese friendship and partnership.<\/p>\n
On the occasion of the anniversary, an exhibition of paintings by Moldovan painter Vladimir Onic\u0103, who settled in Lisbon, was mounted at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and European Integration in Chisinau. The exhibition can be visited during a month as from February 10.<\/p>\n
