The former Deputy Prime Minister for Reintegration, Victor Osipov, has been placed under judicial control in the case of the duty-free shops in the Transnistrian region. At the same time, he announces that he has notified the European Court of Human Rights, invoking the violation of the presumption of innocence, the formulation of accusations without evidence, and the unjustified application of preventive arrest, reports IPN.<\/p>\n\n

Victor Osipov was released from the detention center after the Central Court of Appeal upheld his lawyers’ appeal. In a public message, he maintains that he considers himself innocent and that he will continue to demonstrate his position in court.<\/p>\n\n

The former deputy prime minister criticizes the way the case is being handled and asserts that his fundamental rights have been violated. He maintains that the investigated facts date back over ten years and that the decisions regarding the duty-free shops regime in the Transnistrian region were collectively adopted by the Government and Parliament.<\/p>\n\n

Victor Osipov was arrested and placed<\/a> in custody at the end of March, in the same case as the former Democratic deputy Vladimir Andronachi. The two are accused of involvement in the creation and leadership of a criminal organization, as well as abuse of power, in the case concerning the opening of duty-free shops in the Transnistrian region.
