By opening negotiations for Cluster 6 – “External Relations”, the Republic of Moldova aims to align its policies in areas such as foreign policy, security, defense, and foreign trade with those of the European Union. This is stated by the acting Deputy Prime Minister for European Integration, Cristina Gherasimov, who specifies that Moldova and the EU are already working together to combat hybrid attacks, to protect borders, and to strengthen the country’s resilience, reports IPN.<\/p>\n\n
“This is yet another confirmation that we are making progress on the path to the EU through reforms and concrete results, having the support and confidence of all 27 member states. Together we are building a stronger and safer Moldova and Europe,” declared Cristina Gherasimov.<\/p>\n\n
The official stated that participation in the common trade policy will provide companies with access to the largest network of trade agreements in the world, which means more investments, jobs, and exports. For citizens, according to her, this means more economic opportunities after accession and a country better prepared to meet today’s challenges.<\/p>\n\n
In turn, the Deputy Prime Minister and Acting Minister of Foreign Affairs, Mihai Popsoi, stated that the opening of a new negotiation cluster demonstrates that the Republic of Moldova can progress on the European path when there is political will and joint efforts.<\/p>\n\n
“At the same time, it confirms the confidence of EU member countries, European institutions, and partners that our country can successfully advance on the path to joining the European Union,” the official further stated.<\/p>\n\n
