The ANSP warns about the risk of rabies"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Since the beginning of the year, over 4 thousand people have been attacked by animals in the Republic of Moldova. In the context of the increasing number of these cases, the National Agency for Public Health warns the population about the risk of infection with the rabies virus and urges compliance with prevention measures, reports IPN.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">According to data from the Republican Center for Veterinary Diagnostics, in the first six months of the year, 53 cases of rabies in animals were confirmed in 17 administrative-territorial units. The majority of cases were recorded in dogs &#8211; 29, followed by cattle &#8211; 12, foxes &#8211; 10, and one case each in a pig and a jackal.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The most affected are the districts of Hancesti and Nisporeni, with 11 cases each, followed by Calarasi and Rascani, with four cases each. In the municipality of Chisinau and in the districts of Criuleni, Donduseni and Straseni, three cases have been confirmed each.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">ANSP warns that rabies is usually transmitted through the bite of an infected animal and is almost always fatal after the onset of clinical symptoms. The disease can be prevented by immediately providing first aid and administering post-exposure prophylaxis.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Authorities recommend avoiding contact with unknown or wild animals, vaccinating pets against rabies, and urgently seeking medical attention in the event of a bite or scratch.
