The Transnistrian administration is refusing to accredit a group of journalists from Chisinau to cover events in the region, Evghenii Ceban, editor-in-chief of the ‘\u041c\u041e\u0421\u0422’ media project, reports IPN.<\/p>\n\n
The information was shared by the journalist on social media, and the message was accompanied by a critical comment criticising the administration of the breakaway region. According to Ceban, the Transnistrian administration refused to accredit 3 members of the editorial team. <\/p>\n\n
The refusal dates from 6 May. The letter refers to an order stating that a refusal is possible if there has been \u2018a letter of non-confirmation of accreditation from another state body\u2019. <\/p>\n\n
More specifically, accreditation may be refused without giving reasons if there is an internal agreement between separate subdivisions of the administration.<\/p>\n\n
The targeted journalist cited a public invitation by the Transnistrian leader to cover the events of 9 May. “How so, Vadim Nikolayevich? We wanted to take advantage of your invitation, a subdivision cancels it,” the journalist said.<\/p>\n\n
The denial of accreditation takes place in the context of new initiatives by the Transnistrian administration equating journalistic activity without accreditation with an administrative offence.
