According to the National Bureau of Statistics, women continue to live, on average, about nine years longer than men, reports IPN.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The institution mentions that the life expectancy at birth for men was 68.4 years the previous year, and for women, it was 77.2 years.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">According to NBS, the increase in life expectancy was determined by the reduction in the number of deaths. In 2025, the overall mortality rate dropped to 13.5 deaths per thousand inhabitants, 0.5 percentage points less than in 2024. Mortality remained higher among men, at 15.5 deaths per thousand inhabitants, compared to 11.7 in the case of women.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">At the same time, the infant mortality rate has also decreased, from 11.8 deaths per thousand newborns in 2024 to 9.2 in the previous year. Infant mortality is slightly higher among boys than girls.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The data presented by NBS also shows that the difference between the life expectancy of women and that of men decreases over the years. The most pronounced disparity is at birth and up to the age of 35-39 years, after which it decreases with advancing age.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">At the same time, a 60-year-old man from the Republic of Moldova has, on average, a life expectancy of 16 years, while for a woman it is 21 years. At 65 years old, the life expectancy is 13.1 years for men and 17 years for women, and at 85 years old it reaches four years for men and 4.4 years for women.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The average life expectancy in the Republic of Moldova has reached 72.8 years in 2025, increasing by almost 10 months compared to the previous year.
