The President of the Republic of Moldova Maia Sandu is making a working visit to the United Kingdom during July 17-18. On July 19, she will go to Ireland. The head of state will participate in the European Political Community Summit hosted by British Prime Minister Keir Starmer. On the sidelines of the event, she will meet with a number of European presidents and prime ministers, IPN reports.<\/p>\n
The European Political Community is a key platform for discussions between European countries on peace and security on the continent, but also on other common issues. Moldova hosted the second European Political Community Summit on June 1, 2023.<\/p>\n
The summit includes discussion panels on such topics as the defense of democracy, migration, energy and connectivity. President Sandu, together with the President of France Emmanuel Macron, will chair a working group meeting on defense of democracy, which will involve the leaders of a number of countries and international organizations.<\/p>\n
Also, the Moldovan head of state will travel to Dublin, where she will meet with the President of Ireland Michael Daniel Higgins and Irish Prime Minister Simon Harris.<\/p>\n
In both London and Dublin, President Sandu will meet with members of the Moldovan communities living in the UK and Ireland.<\/p>\n
