Nine financing agreements were signed within the Moldova Partnership Platform to support investments in infrastructure and transition to green and sustainable economy. Moldova\u2019s Government said this is a significant support for accelerating the country\u2019s modernization, stimulating sustainable economic growth, improving living conditions and adapting to climate change, IPN reports.<\/p>\n

Prime Minister Dorin Recean said that the implementation of these agreements will have a positive impact on the living standards of the people of the Republic of Moldova. \u201cOur goal is to improve citizens\u2019 living conditions. We are grateful to our friends for their support, which is essential in achieving these goals,\u201d noted the head of the executive.<\/p>\n

The Government of the Republic of Moldova and the Government of Canada signed a preferential loan agreement to the value of 120 million Canadian dollars (about \u20ac79m). The funding will support vulnerable families and the integration of Ukrainian refugees, promote sustainable economic growth and contribute to transition to green energy.<\/p>\n

With the Government of the United States, the Moldovan authorities agreed an amendment to the value of US$12 million (about \u20ac10.7m) to the agreement on assistance for strengthening democratic institutions. The new support will help improve the quality of public services, increase transparency of state institutions, promote media independence and encourage a more active involvement of citizens in decision-making.<\/p>\n

Likewise, a new amendment to the Development Objective Assistance Agreement to the value of over US$26 (about \u20ac23 million euros) was signed with the U.S. Government. The new funding will support trade development, improve the investment climate, increase exports and strengthen energy security by diversifying energy supply sources and strengthening national energy infrastructure.<\/p>\n

Another agreement to the value of \u20ac25 million was signed with the French Development Agency to finance the state budget to boost transition to green energy. The agreement will support energy reforms, improvement of energy efficiency, expansion of the use of renewable energy, protection of\u00a0 consumers and the environment.<\/p>\n

The Ministry of Labor and Social Protection and the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation signed a Memorandum of Understanding worth 8 million Swiss francs (\u20ac8.5m) to promote community projects to support equal opportunities for women and men and also the active participation of women in the decision-making process.<\/p>\n

The Ministry of Energy, the National Center for Sustainable Energy, the German Federal Foreign Office, the German Agency for International Cooperation (GIZ), the European Union and the Norwegian Ministry of Foreign Affairs concluded a multilateral agreement, signing an Intention for Cooperation in the field of energy efficiency in the residential sector of Moldova. The total value of the financial support of the partners is over \u20ac20 million.<\/p>\n

With the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development, the executive signed an agreement through which the E5P Fund (Eastern Europe Energy Efficiency and Environment Partnership) offers \u20ac4.3 million in grant funding for the modernization of waste management infrastructure. The project, which is already under implementation, aims to improve the infrastructure for collecting, transferring and treating waste in the towns of Cahul, Cantemir, Taraclia, Comrat, Vulcanesti and Cead\u00e2r-Lunga. With the completion of the project, a waste sorting and composting station will be built in Cahul, and waste transfer stations in the other towns.<\/p>\n

A non-reimbursable assistance agreement was signed with the European Investment Bank, through which Moldova will be offered a European Union grant of \u20ac12 million for the project to rehabilitate a 128 km railway portion on the V\u0103lcine\u021b – Ungheni – Chisinau – C\u0103inari section.<\/p>\n

Through the agreement signed with the European Investment Bank, the Republic of Moldova will benefit from an advantageous \u20ac200 million loan for the planting and rehabilitation of over 63,000 hectares of degraded land and forests over the next four years. This support will allow the fulfillment of 44% of the objectives of the National Forest Extension and Rehabilitation Program. The funding will also cover the necessary investments in infrastructure and equipment for sustainable forest management, create new jobs in forestry rural areas and encourage the employment of young specialists in the sector.<\/p>\n

\u201cThese agreements, \u20ac80 million in grants and \u20ac305.1 million in loans provided in advantageous conditions, constitute essential aid for the country\u2019s economy and the environment, representing a significant investment in improving the quality of life of the citizens, increasing the number of highly-paying jobs and promoting the development of infrastructure, forestry, renewable energy and related sectors,\u201d said the Government of the Republic of Moldova.<\/p>\n
